Fusion reaction.The Sun is a main-sequence star, & so generates its energy by nuclear fusion of hydrogen nuclei into helium. Fusion is a nuclear reaction in which two or more atomic nuclei come very close & then collide at a very high speed & join to form a new nucleus. In its core, the Sun fuses 620 million metric tons of hydrogen each 2nd.
