Q. In a family, mother’s age is twice that of daughter’s age. Father is 10 years older than mother. Brother is 20 years younger than his mother and 5 years older than his sister. What is the age of the father?

Suppose the age of daughter is P years.
Age of brother = age of daughter + 5 years = P + 5 years
Age of mother = 2 × age of daughter = 2P years
According to question ,
∴ Age of mother - 20 years = Age of brother
⇒ 2P – 20 = P + 5
⇒ 2P – P = 5 + 20
⇒ P = 25 years
Age of mother = 2P = 2 × 25 = 50 years
Age of father = Age of mother + 10 years = 50 + 10 = 60 years
